Hazelwood Elementary PTSA funds an annual grant to the school to support local families in need.
PTSA works with the school principal, nurse, counselor, and staff to find needs within the school and Hazelwood community. PTSA provides funding and volunteers to implement appropriate programs to meet those needs.
During the 2018-19 school year, the PTSA Community Service grant will support:
- CARE Closet: a Community Assistance & Resource Effort (CARE) Closet is a confidential resource managed by the school. It is stocked with backpacks, clothing, coats, shoes, and other supplies.
- School Cafeteria: financial support for families with lunch debt due to extenuating circumstances, but do not qualify for federal, state, or local programs.
- School Clinic: emergency clothing and underwear.
- Weekend Food Packs: bags of easy-prep, kid-friendly food is sent home to recipients each weekend and during school breaks.
