Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a leader of the American Civil Rights Movement. We observe MLK Day to reflect on his principles of non-violent social change and racial equality. Although we may have the day of school and work, and we encourage you to stay “on” and take the day to serve others in honor of Dr. King. Here are some ways you can serve others in our community:
There are many ways to get involved! You can join, donate, or volunteer on the many committees that need your help! Or sign up for our newsletter to stay in-the-know.
Definitely not! Anyone in the Hazelwood community is welcome to attend the PTSA general membership meetings but in order to vote on important measures in the meetings, you will need to be a paid member. These forums are a great place to get updates on what’s happening at our school and provide feedback or ideas on how to make the Hazelwood experience the best it can be. We would love to see you there!
Before you volunteer, you’ll need to complete a background check with the Renton School District. That’s it! It only takes a few minutes to complete. If you plan on volunteering in the classrooms at any point this year, we recommend filling this out as soon as possible so you can be ready to help when needed.
Yes! We just require that those people volunteering in the classrooms complete a background check through the Renton School District before volunteering. Anyone is welcome to attend our community events!
