Volunteer

Our PTSA is entirely run by volunteers and we are actively in need of more helping hands. Prior experience is not necessary. We welcome everyone to volunteer and become an active member of our community.

All volunteers must complete a background check every other year per the Renton School District policy. It only takes a few minutes to complete the form.

Please review the Hazelwood volunteer guidelines prior to your engagement.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

Cocoa Crafters

Cocoa Crafters is our December event to celebrate the winter season. There will be refreshments and crafts, and a little holiday magic. We are looking for volunteers to help plan and run the event, including setup and take down. This event takes place on December 13.

National PTSA Reflections Contest

National PTA has a long-standing commitment to arts education. The Reflections program provides opportunities for recognition and access to the arts which boost student confidence and success in the arts and in life.

Educator Appreciation

We love our Hazelwood staff and we’re looking for help to show them how much we appreciate them. This group will help for 4 events this school year which involves ordering food and other items, setup, support during the event, and cleanup. You’ll have a seasoned committee lead to work with and the typical time commitment varies between 1-5 hours per event.

Care Closet

Care Closet helps support families in-need within our community. There are 5 drives this year that we need your help to make successful! This includes our coat drive, food drive, treats for troops, toy drive and grocery gift card drive. You will help the committee lead plan, promote, and execute some or all drives based on your availability. Find a friend and sign up today!

Hazelwood Yearbook

We are looking for a group of volunteers to help collect photos and design our school yearbook. If you have experience using design programs, photography, or are simply interested in helping procure and organize photos from teachers, parents, and staff, we would love your help! Time commitment varies based on responsibilities. Many tasks can be done at home in your own time.

Mustang Makers

Mustang Makers is Hazelwood’s new art program (formerly Meet The Masters). This is where we will need the most volunteers–100 to be exact! There are a variety of ways to help depending on your availability from helping in the class, at home making curriculum,  recording videos, setting up and planning art shows, or organizing and distributing supplies. Let’s get this ARTY started!

Class Partners

Help families stay connected and updated with all the Hazelwood happenings in and out of the classroom. This may include facilitating class communications, helping coordinate classroom parties, and help in the classroom when your time allows. Coordinate with your teacher on what level of support works best for you.

Garden Workshops

This is a great opportunity to spend time with your child and classmates, and spend time in the fresh air caring for our school garden.

There are 3 sessions during the year in the Fall, early Spring, and late Spring. The time commitment is 30-60 minutes for each session during the school day.

WordPress/Elementor Expert

We’re looking for dev support for this PTSA website. This is our main source of communication and we rely on a fully functioning site to gather volunteers, donations, and sign ups for events. If you are a software dev or proficient in WordPress, we’d love your help to ensure the site runs smoothly at all times.

Est. commitment per person: 1-2 hrs/mo.

Hearing/Vision Screening

Volunteers will help students through the vision & hearing screening process on October 30th. Our school nurse has a wonderful team in place to conduct the screening, but we need your help to get the kids where they need to go.
